You probably already know that I like my accessories African. These particular ones are quite special because they are handmade made with love from the women that are a part of “Beauty of Rwanda”.
Beauty of Rwanda is a non-profit jewelry and home décor company that empowers women and girls in the rural areas that were deeply affected by the economic strain brought by the 1994 Rwandan genocide.
The company, founded by Salha Kaitesi who also runs the powerful Elle Afrique blogzine, provides a platform for these women to sell their handmade products around the world so as to maintain a sustainable income.
I’ve got to say that among my favs are the bold spiral earrings that will turn any plain outfit into something to talk about.
The Necklaces are actually made out of paper. I like to wear them in multiples because all or nothing.
Support this worthy cause by shopping on the Beauty of Rwanda site. They ship worldwide. Also, you can find hundreds of articles by beautiful African women, myself included, sharing their stories on Elle Afrique.
Check out Beauty of Rwanda’s Instagram page (@BeautyofRwanda) for the organization’s updates and see the lovely women who make these handmade accessories for you and your home.
