You know I love a well-defined pair of cheekbones, so for no reason what so ever would I allow to be left out of this strobing bandwagon. And what is strobing you ask? It’s basically the lazy girls guide to highlighting. Highlighters and illuminating products are commonly applied where light should hit your face…cheekbones, brow bones, forehead center, down the nose and your chin.
My first challenge was to find the perfect highlight shade to fit my skin tone. I was looking for something with a gold shade. Believe me it’s not that many of them. A lot of highlighters look silver, or bronze. I have owned the Benefit cosmetics Watts Up highlighter for a while and was using that in the meantime while I searched for my perfect shade. It works fine but I’m sort of specific with my makeup.
I was snooping around Sephora when I saw the Becca x Jaclyn Hill Shimmering Skin Perfector® Pressed – Champagne Pop highlighter, and even if I had little hope cos it looked pale gold, I tried an arm swatch anyway. I was so blown away…perfection! So I start looking for the boxed packaging to buy and…SOLD OUT! 3 Sephora stores I visited…all sold out! Luckily these cruel make up hunters hadn’t yet invaded the online stock so I was able to buy one off the website. The stores just recently restocked, but it’s a limited edition product soooo if you’re interested, now’s the time.
The thing with strobing that I am coming to learn is that it takes a little time to perfect. Even I’m not where I want to be. I’m still trying out a bunch of brushes to know which works best and to find the perfect part of my face to highlight effortlessly.
You can see me try strobing out on my snapchat feed (@FabsCulture…mostly on the weekends).
Check out a few pics from my current tries.
