Don’t you just hate people that have beautiful, bouncy, flawless skin and when you ask what they use they say, “Nothing, just water?” Oh God I hate them. Some people really don’t have to try, but for those of us that require extra effort, this post is for you.
A friend of mine recently asked me for some tips on how to keep clear skin. I take this topic to heart because for so long my skin gave me problems. Not only was I super oily, with uneven tone and acne, I had constant dullness. I still don’t consider my skin top tier mostly because I have to put in the effort, for it to look the way it does.
I became more focused on my skin care routine when I realized that I had become one of those people that could not leave the house without makeup because I looked terrible without it. I then went on a journey of trial and error with various cosmetics trying to solve my problem areas. When I started, my selections were completely based on what the bottle said at the front, but the more I perfected the art, the sooner I realized that the truth was at the back, in the ingredients section.
So I am going to conclude this post with five things I learnt about skin care.
- Oily skin won’t go away; neither will dry skin.
Oily skin can be a result of genetic makeup, so if your skin has always been oily, chances are that it will always be that way. Because dryness is more about adding to skin and oil is more about control, it’s more complicated keeping oil in check than it is keeping dryness in check.

- There will be bad skin days
Unless you won the $300 million lottery and never have to work a day in your life, stress is inevitable. Then there’s the weather, mother nature, and the weekend turn-up that leave your skin looking like you died overnight. There will be days when you get less than adequate rest and your poor skin will pay the price. Just take a deep breath and drink a tone of water, this too shall pass.
- You need to invest in your skin
Child, you can recreate Beyonce’s outfit with an ensemble from Forever 21 but you cannot recreate her face with cheap cosmetics…nada. Seriously, stop buying cheap products. Your skin deserves better.
- You stand a better chance and long lasting results with natural compounds.
The natural way makes you less prone to sensitivity issues because your skin is working with chemicals it’s already familiar with, like collagen or vitamin C and water.
- If you have nourished skin, most of your skin problems will fade away.
If there is one tip you can take away from this entire post, it’s this. By nourished, I mean having a good supply of water, antioxidants and protein that help your skin rebuild stronger, healthier cells. Each time skin lacks nutrients, it’s bound to be on its worst behavior. Dry skin suffers the dryness and oily skin produces excess oil. These are the better days of my skin and when I tell you I do not own one oil-control product. I keep my skin clean, moisturized and nutritious and my oiliness is very tolerable.
That’s all from me…Stay Moisturized,

Lol I am that person that you mentioned in the beginning of the post haha! I’m gonna try and be more kind to my skin & drink more water, and eat better because I have noticed that my skin is not as on point as usual. Thanks for your post. It gave me the kick up the butt I needed to get my skincare regime on fleek.
