The spices struggle—store your spices in the upper cabinet and risk owning three jars of dried parsley because you forgot about the other two in the back of the cabinet that are out of reach. Place them in the lower cabinet and you’ll get sick of having to bend multiple times while making meals. Eventually, you might give up and have a whole corner on your kitchen countertop dedicated to spice containers of all colors and sizes, which if we are being honest, looks tacky.
The kitchen is my favorite and most organized room in the home. I love sleek uncrowded counters with everything having a place and purpose. I wanted a solution that would merger appearance and functionality. Because I season my food as I cook, I knew I’d need the spices to be easily accessible.
One thing about Amazon, whatever crazy idea you have, someone is probably selling it in the color you want. I got spice racks that stick to a refrigerator and some spice jars for a neat minimalist look that wouldn’t be overwhelming. The jars came with a funnel, brush, pre-made labels, blank labels and a white marker.
Because you have one funnel, separate the spices in groups so you can use the funnel multiple times without washing after every use. For example, I grouped spices like powdered garlic, paprika and ginger together.
When you live in an apartment or small space, you need to work vertically with storage ideas. This small but powerful fix gives me easy access to a high traffic item in the kitchen, plus being able to easily see all my spices in the same area stops me from repeat buying spices I already have. This is such a beautiful storage solution to have in your home.
