When I tell you this has been the year of change for me…I never dreamt of wearing a dress full of flowers, but here we are. Secretly I always wanted a floral summer dress but I had no idea what direction to take.
From the moment I saw this drop waist dress on the model on the Simply Be website, I knew this would be the perfect floral dress for me. Upon arrival and first fitting, the dress felt really comfortable, but it was a size too big, so it looked kind of droopy. That’s when I decided to try on my turquoise belt to add some shape and voila, I was in love.
It was a bit of a challenge for me to find the perfect accessories for a dress that already had too much going on. After a few tries with all types of colors, it hit me, this is what black accessories are for. Black can be your bold accessory when you have a busy print.
So today’s take home points, first of all, curvy girls can wear dresses filled with flowers. Its all about how you wear the flowers lol. Secondly, if you’re wearing a print that is busy, keep your accessories plain and minimal like I did with my belt and earrings. And lastly, black can make for a nice statement accessory on very colorful prints.
I had this shoot done by my friend Brenda at the famous Biscuit Paint Wall in Houston. She is the one who told me about it and I was completely blown away by how beautiful it looked. At first I worried if it would contrast and I would have too many colors all together, but you be the judge. Cool story, the paint on this wall was actually poured from the top which brought about its pattern. It’s actually in the parking lot of a restaurant in the Montrose area of Houston.
Hope you enjoy this upcoming weekend
