I can’t recall the last time I wore blue eye shadow. It’s like one of those colors people are petrified of out of the fear of looking ghetto. Believe me even I was scared, so I thought I would try the color out when headed to the movies which would make the perfect distraction for the public in-case things went sour. Initially the look didn’t turn out so well. I tried to make a smoky eye with the blue and a black shade…disaster. I then fixed it using a dark brown so it wouldn’t be so harsh. Honestly how do ppl wear black eye shadow? The results still looked a bit dull so I lightened it up by using a yellowish-brown in the corner of my eyes, and I was pretty impressed with how things turned out. Do you like?
I included pics of the brushes I used to create the look in case you wanna try. When it comes to eye shadow I usually have 2 brushes of each kind, one for lighter shades and browns close to my skin tone and the other for dark shades and shades with color.
This is my transition color (whose name I completely forgot…sorry) but it’s from mac and it matches my skin tone, which is what a transition color should do. I use the smudging brush to put it all over my eyes right after I put on eye shadow primer. I also use it at the end to smooth out any harsh unblended lines, so everything looks nice and smooth.
I then put on the dark blue on my lid using the dark shades smudge brush. The shimmer blue goes on at the end after all the other colors have been added just to accentuate the pop of blue.
The dark brown help create my smoky look. I use a thicker dome shaped blending shadow brush because it picks up more color.
I then used the more shaper edged blending brush with this yellowish/tan color to highlight the inner corners of my eye. This helped my look not seem so dull.
