This shoot almost did not happen. My friend Brenda and I were ready to leave the house to head to the Houston Arboretum and Nature Center when this heavy down pour came out of nowhere. It was about 5pm too and I had lost all hope of catching the last bits of the sun when suddenly the last drops came down and the sun peaked through one last time. We jumped in the car really fast, sped to this place we both had never been to and here I am.
We didn’t get a chance to walk deep into the woods and to the pond cos we were all by ourselves as the park was about to close, plus these woods preserve wildlife…not to mention some of us vividly recall the happenings of the movie Texas Chainsaw Massacre.
At the start of the shoot, I had some nude heels to match this gorgeous maxi dress, but when I saw the first few takes of the pictures, the background scenery gave a traditional regal feeling, so I kicked off the fancy and chose to blend in with nature.
Maxi dresses are taking center stage now that summer is getting close…what am I saying, summer is here! I love that this pleated number can be dressed down with some flats or up with some classy jewelry, because a girl could use some multifunctional outfits. I would never have bought this necklace had I not seen my idol Michelle Obama rock something similar. It’s quite heavy although it makes for the perfect statement piece, which is why I settled for simple studs on my ears.
Happy June…Buba.
