African Printin’ and not Over Doin’

Speaking of really awesome friends. Today my girl Brenda had a mini luncheon for a few chosen ones and I gotta admit, I ate a little more than I’m proud of? So anyway even though I’m crazy about my African roots, you won’t usually find me completely fanning out and wearing a full blown African outfit head to toe. I prefer to accessorize with the various prints through stuff like shoes, scarfs, hair accessories and jewelry. Today’s outfit is featuring an African print scarf made from material that I bought in Uganda and had tailored for me right here in H-Town. I wonder if you guys have noticed my love for scarfs yet? I just had this one made and it’s getting too many compliments I feel like wearing it everyday.
I decided to go all black on the rest of the look, so as to bring the attention to my accessories. And you know I’m always up for a pop of red in my outfit, but…can we talk??? If there’s one thing I loathe, it’s an all red accessories combo…you know, red bag, red shoes, red earrings, red necklace and red ribbon all on the same outfit. Mehn if you’re one of those, we can’t be friends.  Red is meant to be loud and too much of it can be tacky so keep the balance…case in point, not only did I keep the red accessories in my outfit far from each other, I also I switched out what would have been a red bag and went for a summery yellow…I’m spontaneous like that. Who knew red and yellow would work…ummm…your genius stylish friend Buba.

Have a lovely week!

Xoxo…
