Today, the last day of February, concludes Black History month and before we kiss the season goodbye, I wanted to share a feature story that I wrote for my university’s newspaper, the TSU Herald about an inspirational woman who participated in Houston’s first sit-in. Also, check out my exclusive commentary at the end of the article….
I mean, can we talk. No, seriously…let’s be real.
Thanksgiving – the day before Black Friday, where you have to deal with the most judgmental people in your life.
Can I just say that listening to the “I’m a Barbie Girl” song at 7 years and again at 25 years are two completely different situations. At 7 all you care for is the “you can brush my hair” part. At 25 however, you hear and understand all the other lyrics and my goodness “touch me everywhere?” Barbie girl, you need to get it together. And to think they used to play this song on Cartoon Network like every hour.
Anyhoo, random conversations aside…actually, one more thing, why was the singer’s hair black…not even brown…but pitch black hair and Ken was bold with a voice that sounded like he had a criminal record…like why would they even do that. Okay here’s Style Week 5.
Ayyy it’s week 4 of the Style Week series!!!
My spirits have been up all week and no, it wasn’t because of all the coffee I kept chugging down every morning. I have actually had something nice happen to me almost every day of this past week. Allow me to take you through.
Here is my second installment of the style week. I gotta say, finding a location to take a decent picture is not as easy as you may think, especially since I usually take the pictures in the evening during rush hour and sometimes people stop and look at this weirdo smiling for the cam….
Funny how I had serious second thoughts about these bracelets while perusing through the Nordstrom jewelry section, only to end up loving them so much as to want to get another pair, just in case the odds were against me and I lost the first one (does anyone else buy 2 of something they love so much…I do that all the time). When I wear them together, they somehow get intertwined and form some sort of star shape. I love a unique bracelet and these are really classy.
Becca x Jaclyn Hill Shimmering Skin Perfector® Pressed – Champagne Pop
Everyone is strobing lately, if you’re not…well…you could start with this almost sold out shimmering highlight. This is a classic show up to your friend’s birthday party looking like you the birthday girl product. It’s not easy to find highlighters that have a light gold finish, and this one is perfect. Check out my review here.
F by Ferragamo Perfumed body lotion
The perfume is one of my all-time favorite scents. Packaged in one of the most beautiful bottles ever, it has a defined feminine presence, for the woman that knows what she wants. Even though I love exploring with fragrances, I like to have this one around me every now and then. I have a type when it comes to fragrances. I like spicy with some amber, a hint of floral, something sweet like vanilla or caramel and yet defined with some musk or sandalwood. The lotion is a good base for a lot of my perfumes.
Too Faced Better Than False Lashes Extreme!
Besides my undying love for the Better than Sex mascara, I am seriously attracted to this genius lash extension system. I’m talking double the length…possibly triple on your actual lashes without dealing with lash glue and needing college worthy skills to apply false lashes. This is your typical Non Make Up Artist product that will make you look like a pro! Review here.
Stila Shape & Shade Custom Contour Duo
You can tell by the pic how much I’m into this product. When it comes to make up products, I like to use them a couple of times before doing a review. I have used this on a number of makeup posts like here and here and I actually love it. My fight with concealer kits is that they always have about four colors and I only need two, a shade lighter and a shade darker than my skin tone. All this color correcting business is taken care of by using good skin care products. Apart from the fact that this kit has exactly what I need, I especially love that its packaging is wide enough to dip my beauty blender or brushes without making a mess. Also, it doesn’t crease easily and is buildable from sheer to full coverage, depending on what you prefer.
Versace Eros Pour Femme
Hope your weekend was awesome. Xoxo…B
This is me just accepting that summer is coming for us in full mode and as much as all the clothes and all the colors are totally my thing, my skin is not! I worry a lot about my skin cos it easily gets discolored and then there’s the mighty oiliness that it is. So I recently went snooping around some of my favorite stores and here’s six awesome beauty products things I found….
Hey there, so for this installment of six things, I’m going to share my favorite hair products. I’ve owned these for about 3 weeks now but waited to post about them cos I wanted to tell the truth lol. So usually, I don’t see much of a difference when I use hair products in terms of softness or curl pattern. This time though, I saw a few new changes…let’s jump in….
Say Hello to my 100th post. This time around I thought I would share something special. As you already know, we don’t all have the picture perfect life we paint for the world. Sometimes life can really kick you in the butt. Other times you will wake up not feeling yourself. If at all you need any sympathy, find some in knowing that there are a lot of people going through the same thing. I have had my share of disappointments in life and I try my best to learn from them. Here’s a few tricks I’ve picked up along the way…maybe some might click with you.
- How do you know when to break up with a guy?
When you realize being lonely would be happier than being with him.
- What is love?
Love is compromise…meet each other in the middle.
- How do you raise yourself esteem?
Dress to kill….something about those compliments that makes you feel worthy.
- How can u instantly improve your mood?
Listen to songs from your childhood days that you used to dance to (my playlist has Oliver Ngoma).
- How can you feel stronger?
Pray….the power of a higher power.
- How can you avoid drunk dialing?
Don’t get drunk.
- How do you make your partner happy?
Ask them what makes them happy, then do it.
- How do you make yourself happy?
Make some goals, no matter how small, then achieve them.
- How do you fall in love?
Give it your all.
10. How do you get over a heartbreak?
Take it one day at a time…you will wake up one morning and it won’t hurt as much.
